The Seafoam Palace
You are on a beach vacation with some of your friends, and you all decide to go swimming together in the ocean. While you've enjoyed the hours of excitement as they all play and fight with one another, you eventually reach your limit. An idea enters your mind, and you decide to slip away to a remote area of the water in order to defervesce.
However, on your way to a lonely rock you spotted peeking out of the water, you are caught up in an unexpectedly strong current, and swept away from your friends, oblivious to your absquatulation. The pelagic grasp of the sea drags you into the ravenous vortex of a whirlpool, though you try to resist. As you struggle in vain against the unyielding forces of the ocean, you become exhausted. Consciousness slips from your mind like grains of sand falling through your fingers, and your vision goes black.
After returning to your senses, you find yourself in the center of a cold, damp room. Carved stone etched with unfamiliar patterns surrounds you on all sides. Faint, aquamarine light emanates from a hanging latern, alleviating some of the darkness in the calignous room. You notice that there are no doors or windows, and it feels difficult to breathe, though you are uncertain as to why.
After observing your surroundings further, you notice what appears to be a staircase, barely visible through the murky haze that fills the entire room. A lurching pain throbs up your temples and throughout your skull, warning you not to overstay your welcome in this inhospitable place.
While you'd prefer to leave through more traditional means, the lack of any exit means you have no choice but to remain this place's prisoner for some time longer. In the meantime, you decide to investigate the higher floors in hopes of discovering some clues about this forlorn domain, or how you arrived here in the first place.
